Yes! This is where my heart is and I believe in your ability to birth at home, fully in your power. There is always a time and place for emergency medicine and for hospital transfers to take place, but I believe most women and babies are safer birthing in the comfort of their own home with as little intervention as possible.
-
I am so excited to say a full bodied YES to this question. If you live in the Durham Region, Peterborough, Kawarthas and surrounding areas up to 1.5hrs, and are looking for in-person support for your home birth, please apply to work with me!

I have! I have attended births in the past for both planned and unplanned C-Sections.
-
Yes! There are many herbs that are perfectly safe for pregnant women to take. My training in Clinical Herbalism has provided me with the knowledge of what is safe to use and what to stay away from when it comes to plant medicine.
“Little is known scientifically about the safety of most herbs during pregnancy. However, much the same can be said for the use of many pharmaceuticals during pregnancy, most of which have not been tested or proven safe in pregnancy. Even medications previously thought to be safe in pregnancy, including Tylenol, have now been found to cause potential problems for baby. And as many as 90% of all pregnant women will be prescribed some medication during pregnancy!

Personally, I like to connect with clients during early labour because it can be game-changing for good birth outcomes and a more effective and efficient labour. I usually pop over for an hour or two in early labour, and then go home to prepare myself and my family for your upcoming birth if you live in Peterborough. Otherwise I will be in touch over the phone. It also allows for things like prodromal labour to play out and allows me to gather my strength to support you when it’s go time. I stay in touch with my clients throughout the hours with text so I can help see how things are going. Once you are in the throws of labour and things have really shaped up into a good rhythm, I’ll join you, but we will be talking up until then so you’re never alone. As a Mom I like to give myself lots of time to get to you and make sure things are good here at home. Once I’m at your birth in-person, I will leave after you have birthed your placenta, attempted breastfeeding and your baby are ready to rest post birth. But every birth is different! I won’t leave until it feels right to do so.
If your labour is long, there will be times where I will take a break to rest, eat, or get some fresh air. To date, I the longest I’ve supported a client was no more than 24 hours.
-
I do have a section in my contract that does cover this. In a nutshell, if there is a weather scenario that would put my life at risk, I am unable to attend your birth. This has never happened to me and with good communication and planning I do not foresee this being a problem in the future.
In the event it does happen, I will credit you an amount which can be applied to future treatments and services.
-
I only support home births but if you need to transfer to the hospital I will come with you! This is when you need a Doula the most in terms of advocacy and information. That being said, you and your partner will have to advocate for me to be part of your team and present in the spaces you are being cared for with your hospital care team.
-
I sure do! When you apply to work with me let me know you’re interested and I can add it to our invoice.
