Walking the path into motherhood with nourishing support.
What is a Birth Keeper?
A Birth Keeper is a modern-day version of the wise women of the past - those who supported pregnant and birthing mothers in their communities with care, compassion, and wisdom and a basket of herbal remedies by her side. A Birth Keeper trusts in the body and believes in the power of women, especially during pregnancy, birth, and motherhood.
The term Birth Keeper alludes to a stewardship of women’s health, a keeper of the ancient, natural ways of birth. To me, this title means taking care and guiding women naturally, in harmony with nature, ensuing the wellness of women’s health for present and future generations. It also alludes to a collective responsibility we all have as women to protect our natural ways and to sustain them for as long as we are able.
In my role, I wholeheartedly take a holistic approach, offering women emotional, physical, educational, and spiritual support. I hold space for the sacredness of pregnancy, birth, and motherhood and I delight in watching it unfold naturally without manipulation or intervention.
What’s really beautiful about the role of a Birth Keeper, is that we see ourselves as equal and not as authority. I walk alongside you as you discover and navigate your journey to, through, and beyond birth. I am not bound by regulations, governments, or certification requirements. I am not a saviour, but I am here to guide and nurture you alongside your prenatal, birth, and postpartum desires.
I understand physiological pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, but I also respect that you know your body and your baby better than anyone else ever could. I hold the container of energy for you to sit with this truth and to begin to embody it, maintaining a safe space while you step into your power and transition fully into your role as Mother.
Choosing to work with me isn’t just about the day of your baby’s birth - it’s about nurturing you throughout your entire journey into motherhood. Here’s what makes my approach unique ↓

Home
Birthing at home is a beautiful way to welcome your baby into the world. Whether it’s a birth pool in the living room or birthing in the forest, let’s create the most ideal and welcoming space for your journey. We will also discuss what birth could look like should you choose or need to go into the hospital and how to work with chosen care providers.
-
Hospital / Birth Centre
If a hospital birth is right for you, let’s do it! We will deep dive together into the world of hospital birth because it is very different than home birth and do specific work to protect your flow of hormones. Just because you’re not birthing at home, doesn’t mean you can’t have a holistic experience my dear. I’ve got you!
What about wild pregnancy and free birthing, do you support that?
YES!! I love these births!
-
A wild pregnancy is a term used to describe a pregnancy that is managed entirely outside of the conventional medical system. This approach involves forgoing standard prenatal care such as ultrasounds, blood tests, or doctor or midwife appointments. Instead, you would listen to your body, follow your intuition, research, prepare, educate yourself etc. as you prepare for birth, track your baby’s development, and make your own decisions every step of the way!
-
A free birth also known as an unassisted birth, is the act of giving birth without the presence of a medical professional. It is a choice you can make to birth your baby in an environment that you choose, usually at home, trusting your body, your baby, and your instincts to guide the process. While some are planned, some are unintentional, like when a birth happens very quickly, for example.
-
An off-grid birth can be synonymous with free birth for some people, but it can also indicate being off-grid in a rural location without access to utilities, like being on the electrical grid, or connected to municipal water. If you’re talking about the location and utilities, you may still choose to have a midwife present at your birth which wouldn’t be considered a free birth, so language can be an important distinction of the kind of experience you’re looking for, but it’s also a term I’ve heard used to describe birthing outside of Western Medicine.
-
In birth, preparation is key to managing emergencies, regardless of whether you have a care provider attending or not. Preparing your space for easy access by emergency vehicles and professionals is a step I recommend all clients take. I am educated n the stages of labour, potential complications, and natural remedies to address issues like prolonged labour, labour pains, or hemorrhaging for example. I will bring these remedies with me to your birthing space. I’ve also developed a detailed emergency plan, including knowing the closest hospital, having a charged phone and portable back-up chargers, and am ready to phone in an emergency at any time and will always follow your lead. The most important thing to note when you’re considering a free birth is that you assume radical responsibility for yourself and your baby. Together, we will continuously evaluate for yellow and red flags and respond accordingly. Specific details will be discussed in prenatal appointments in preparation for your birth.

I deeply feel that women need community. We’ve lost our connection to nature and have therefore lost so many matriarchs and their legacies as a result. It is my mission to step into this role of the matriarch and bring back community and connection to the divine feminine, especially in pregnancy, birth, and motherhood. Women would call on the village midwife, their mothers, grandmothers, sisters, aunts, and friends to support them during labour, birth, and postpartum. I think some do need space and alone time to go inward, but I do not believe we are all ready to walk the entire birth path alone. Many of my clients do not have supportive mothers, or have a mother in their life at all, or need and guidance to stay in their zone in order to find that power, and I am honoured to step into that space of the nurturing matriarch for my clients because I believe they deserve that level of care and guidance.
-
Not at all. The content of what we’ll discuss will be different, but the level of care I offer is the same for all women. All birth comes with risk, all birth is unknown. We walk the path regardless of birthing space or who is around us, it just has different components involved. I always support my clients in their informed decision making processes, refer to their intuition, and endeavour to guide them along the way.
