RADICAL MOTHER WELLNESS - BIRTH KEEPER AND HOLISTIC PRACTITIONER

View Original

I'm so grateful for those first women who opened up to me. They created a cascade of healing.

"Every story had the same thread. Each woman felt alone in her experience."

I started working in women's wellness after I had my second baby in my home. I returned to work as a photographer and created a series documenting the journey of feeding. I collected written stories of these women. Some struggled with breastfeed but wanted to push through (first photo) the discomfort and at the time pain, to reach their natural wellness goals. Others were formula fed from the beginning. One family was dealing with lethal allergies and entering the school years.

Every story had the same thread.

Each woman felt alone in her experience.

I couldn't believe that these beautiful souls felt so alone when all of them had shared such similiar feelings with me privately in our sessions.

The intimacy of that shoot and the powerful tales of these women encouraged.me to pursue birth photography where I could dive even deeper into documenting the power of a woman. I was obsessed with the details of her in the full expression of her power as well as in relation to the people in her life.

Being a fly on the wall wasn't for me. After my first birth photo shoot I began researching how to become a Doula because I needed to offer hands on support.

A few years later, I opened up my next business, Hello, Baby!

And then by 2020, I was called to work on an even deeper level with the womb space and plants.

By 2022 I had completed my training in Clinical Herbalism and here I am now!

A womb witch, ready to work with your most intimate parts of yourself in a holistic way because natural wellness is holistic in nature and we can't separate the body into specialized segments and treat only that tiny little thing and expect results.

Birth work cast my eyes wide open to the violence of obstetrics and western medicine.

Plant medicine brought me home to the earth and to spirit.

I've kept these two photo books over the years to remind me of my journey. They keep me grounded in this work. They speak to what an honor it is to be part of such intimate parts of people's lives. I'm so grateful for those first women who opened up to me. They created a cascade of healing.
