Your Birth. Your Way.

I guide women who want to step fully into birth and motherhood with confidence, support, and sovereignty without compromising what matters most.

You feel it in your bones. You want a different experience.

Why is it that pregnancy and birth often feels over-medicalized, rushed, and disconnected from your body’s natural intelligence?

You deserve support that truly meets you where you are. Support that honours your body, your choices, and your instincts without judgment, without agendas, without compromise. This is your birth, your postpartum, your journey into motherhood, and it deserves to be guided with care, confidence, and expertise.

When you work with me, you’re not just hiring any ole doula — you’re inviting someone who will:

  • Hold space for you in all the ways! (emotionally, physically, and practically) so you can focus on getting in the zone fully for yourself and your baby.

  • Guide your partner to feel confident, skilled, capable, and included. Most people assume men are useless, I take an opposite approach, their role is essential.

  • Prepare you for a natural birth on your terms, wherever it happens, home, hospital, or birth centre. Each space comes with pros and cons, and the plan can change, but that doesn’t bother me. I am your anchor through it all.

  • Support your recovery and postpartum transition so you can rest, bond, and thrive without feeling alone or overwhelmed. Let me nourish you and your family!

  • Equip you with tools, resources, and confidence to trust your instincts, advocate for yourself, and create a birth story you’ll feel so proud and good about!

  • Bring all my skills to the table. I call myself Doula, but I am also Birth Keeper, Clinical Herbalist, Energy Healer, Intuitive and so much more. I am holistic in my approach and all of my teachings come to the table in the work that I do. I am very proud of my work and know that what I bring to the table is fulsome.

This is more than a service. It’s an investment in your peace of mind, your confidence, and your family’s well-being.

You will walk away feeling capable, supported, and truly empowered, knowing you gave yourself and your baby, and truly the whole family for generations to come, the gift of a fully honoured and guided journey.

How I walk with you through it all…

I am a truth teller, so in other words, I don’t BS you. You are supported in knowing why things happen from policy to physiology and everything in-between, and I guide you how to move with through it all with confidence and rooted in your beliefs and values. When you work with me you will..

  • Understand what’s happening in your body from a holistic perspective top to bottom

  • Build confidence and find YOUR voice (dad too!) so fear doesn’t override your choices.

  • Prepare in pregnancy in your body and nervous system, because preparation is the key to creating and changing experience.

  • Break down the medical language and policies so you can advocate for yourself clearly and with your own authority.

  • Support your partner in the moment so they feel equipped, not frozen and they know what to do and where to go, especially in the case of unexpected circumstances.

  • Create a birth environment that supports your nervous system and your vision.

  • Use plant medicine that actually nourishes you and addresses the root problem, not just trendy surface level solutions.

  • Help you stick to your goals! From vaginal birth to breastfeeding or whatever goals make sense for you and your family.

  • Bring a motherly nourishment to our time together. I am both kind and soft, and firm when needed. Think of me as a homemaking 90s mom with a no BS attitude, hence the business name.

What My Clients Are Saying

  • First Time Parents

We are so thankful for Nessa’s support throughout pregnancy and the birth of our baby. As first time parents, we felt initially overwhelmed, but Nessa was incredibly knowledgeable and gave us access to important information in a way that was accessible and applicable which was so appreciated! She provided incredible comfort measures during labour and her passion for prenatal care is evident - we are grateful for her care during our journey!

  • Instantly Comfortable

I touched base with Nessa very early in my pregnancy and together we made a plan. I felt instantly comfortable and very comforted in her presence. As my pregnancy progressed I felt more empowered to have a home birth! Nessa equipped me knowledge, information, and preparation tools to feel confidence in choosing this path!

  • Priceless Support

The postpartum support that Nessa provided was absolutely priceless. I felt nurtured and cared for. I felt validated on the tough stuff. Having a person come into one’s home in the baby’s early days is a very intimate time. Nessa was welcome in our space. Nessa was able to wear the baby, make a pot of soup, fold laundry, while providing me with support. She had all sorts of great tips and tricks for helping the baby sleep (to help me get sleep too!), as well as great podcast recommendations. She also encouraged me to have special time with my older daughter.

  • Nessa Has A Calling

To this day I feel very connected to Nessa and I consider her a friend and confidante. She has a calling when it comes to this work and I recommend her at all times for Doula support as well as all the other wonderful things she does!

Bonus Classes

Take the guesswork out of early parenthood. Comfort Measures 101 is designed to show parents how to work as a team during labor—teaching partners exactly how to be hands-on, helpful, and supportive so no one feels useless. Mom also learns what positions, techniques, and supports feel best for her, making labor more comfortable, confident, and connected. Breastfeeding 101 covers everything from latch and positioning to troubleshooting common challenges.

My classes will help you feel prepared and supported from day one. This private opportunity for intentional, and devoted time to your family gives you a clear blueprint, and allows you both to build confidence, and set your family up to navigate birth and the early weeks with calm, clarity, and teamwork.

Bundle and Save!

Most new parents start out feeling like they don’t know what the hell they’re doing. You wonder: Is this normal? Is my baby okay? Why am I crying again? Every question leads to ten more, Google searches spiral, and anxiety builds until it feels like your brain might explode. Sleep deprivation steals your patience. Your partner wants to help, but doesn’t know how, leaving both of you exhausted, frustrated, and a little lost. Meanwhile, the house is a disaster, meals are skipped, laundry piles up, and it feels like life is just surviving until someone else gets home.

It doesn’t have to be this way. With your postpartum support bundled with birth care, you can step into a completely different experience. This is the kind of support that protects your peace, honors your recovery, and nourishes your family. You have a trusted, skilled guide showing up to:

• Help you heal faster and feel nourished in body and mind

• Prepare meals and snacks so your family actually eats well

• Keep the house gently managed so you can focus on rest and bonding

• Provide hands-on newborn care guidance and emotional reassurance

• Answer those burning questions, normalize what’s happening, and help you navigate the uncertainty

• Offer optional herbal and energy healing to support body and spirit

Picture this instead: you have a quiet cup of tea while your baby naps, lunch is ready, dinner is prepped to pop in the oven, and the house feels calmer. You can take a shower, step outside, or spend time with older children, knowing someone you trust has everything under control. Your partner can breathe easier too, knowing you’re supported and that the overwhelm is not all on them.

This isn’t indulgence. It’s a blueprint for success in the first month, a way to reduce anxiety, prevent burnout, protect your mental health, and give your family a strong start. It’s the difference between chaos and calm, exhaustion and restoration, surviving and actually enjoying life with your newborn.

And the best part? When you bundle your birth and postpartum support, you save 20% and secure continuity of care from pregnancy through your first month at home. You get guidance, nourishment, and peace of mind, so you can finally stop surviving and start thriving.

Your Questions, Answered

  • I’m going to tell you a secret / not a secret at all. I call myself Doula but I really am a Birth Keeper deep down. A Birth Keeper is someone who holds and protects the honour of pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period so that women can follow their instincts, listen to their body, and choose their choices without unnecessary interference. We believe and trust that a women’s body was deigned to birth her baby.

The typical response to this question is that a Doula supports women emotionally, physically, and informationally, but here’s what I want you to know.

I am not a medical professional. I’m not a midwife or an OB.

I care for my clients by providing guidance, information, and education on pregnancy, birth preparation, labour and birth, postpartum healing and wellness, breastfeeding, and motherhood.

I teach my clients to find their own voice to advocate for their wants and needs in their health care.

I help my clients connect as partners to welcome their baby into the world together.

I physically support labouring women with hip squeezes, massage, hugs, contraction positions, and hand-over-hand support for breastfeeding.

I resource my clients to navigate the medical system when necessary.

I help them feel grounded in hoping for the best and planning for the rest!

  • My theory is the sooner the better. The earlier we are connected the more access you have to me. Why wait to have someone in your corner?

Booking your doula early gives you peace of mind and allows you to build a relationship with me.

When my schedule permits, I have space for emergency Doula services. Inquire within.

  • Yes! I follow you where you will go. That being said, I do not shy away from informing you about the risks and benefits of each option.

  • Continuous support means I am there when you want me to be until you’re tucked in with your baby. This timeline is different for every woman. I arrive and assess where you’re at in your journey and we will make a plan to help labour progress. My support also looks like comfort measures, position suggestions, encouragement, grounding, feeding you, hydration, etc.

Partners need help too! I help them figure out what to do and how to be most helpful. I keep them grounded and calm, even when they appear to be strong on the outside. Most men want to be involved, but don’t know how, so that’s my job to keep them off the bench and in the game.

  • Yes! After your baby is born, I will make sure you are OK! Most women don’t think about giving birth to their placenta, and possible repair of vaginal tissue as something that is a part of the birthing experience. Not to mention clean-up! Birth can be messy. All while tending to your newborn and helping them latch for the first time.

I like to tell parents that. Once you’re ready to rest, I will head home.

  • I support clients in the Peterborough and Kawarthas area, Durham region, and Northumberland, but can travel outside of these regions in the spring to fall. In the winter months I like to stay closer to home to ensure proper service.

I do charge a $25 / day travel fee for Postpartum clients outside of Peterborough by 25 km.

Deposit + Payment Plans

  • Deposit

In order to secure your spot, I do require a 50% deposit and signed contract before we begin service.

  • Payment Plans

My Doula services are an investment and I offer my clients payment plan options depending on their needs and the time we have to work together. Booking earlier helps spread things out over the course of our care together.

  • Sliding Scale

I often have space for sliding scale clients and barter opportunities on a first come first served basis and I always evaluate my capacity to provide. If payment is an issue, please indicate on your application and we will do our best to work together.
