A healthy look at Cortisol
Did you know that Cortisol is our natural cup of coffee in the morning?
Check out this visualization path of Cortisol below.
In the morning we have an increase in CAR (Cortisol Awakening Response) where our cortisol spikes to get us moving.
Throughout the rest of the day it tapers off as we head towards sleep. Specifically, at midnight, it's like our cortisol flicks a switch and it goes into a rest, detox, and repair state while you sleep. Beautiful!
This is a picture of Cortisol health.
We often demonize cortisol but we really just need to get it in balance and use it to our advantage because it's good for us, by design! Cortisol totally regulates your body's ability to protect you from infection, as well as regulate your blood sugar, maintain fat storage, encourages mobilization to provide you with energy to escape danger, and drives your sexual desire, hormone cycles and levels, and ability to get pregnant and nourish babies.
