Inner Child Work: A Powerful Healing Journey for Mothers

How Reconnecting with Our Inner Child Helps Us Heal as Mothers

When I first became a mother, I had no idea that the journey would force me to confront not only the challenges of motherhood but also the deep, hidden parts of myself. Motherhood is a giant mirror, holding up the parts of the past that are waiting to be integrated.

I had a love for children and babies before I became a mother. I watched over my younger cousins, I babysat, I was a camp counsellor and I still am the adult that gravitates to the kids table. Yet I still found myself overwhelmed, lost, overstimulated, and doubting myself as a mother.

It wasn’t until I started doing inner child work that I realized how much of my own childhood shaped the way I was showing up as a mother. I had spent so much time tending to everyone else’s needs, that I had neglected the child within me who needed me when she was little, and who still needs me now.

Whenever I am triggered, I am usually reminded by my very well meaning and intelligent friend, what does Little Nessa need? Ooof! It’s powerful, isn’t it?

At first, asking yourself what your inner child needs can feel annoying, but that’s part of the work. That feeling will be a clue as to which version of you needs nurturing.

How old do you feel when you think of what the younger you needs in those moments? Tune in!

Once I take a moment to look within, it’s like it all falls into place.

In this week of the Radical Mother Gathering, we’re going to dive into the inner child part of ourselves that holds memories, emotions, and beliefs that influence our experience as mothers today. We will open up to the idea of how healing parts of ourselves can lead to a more empowered, integrated, and peaceful experience of motherhood.

This Work Is Powerful:

When we heal our inner child, we stop projecting our unresolved pain and trauma onto our children. We begin to show up more fully and lovingly, without the emotional baggage that can often cloud our interactions with our kiddos and our dreams for motherhood.

I know it can be difficult to dive into the past, but I am here to tell you that this work is worth it!

In our gathering we will uncover the benefits of inner child healing and start brainstorming some areas of motherhood we want to hold space for the younger versions of ourselves. I’ll be there every step of the way! It’s a process of self-discover and self-compassion that will continue to positively shift your motherhood.

Ready to Connect?

If you’re feeling called to reconnect with your inner child, to heal the wounds that affect your motherhood experience, I’d love for you to join a at the Radical Mother Gathering. It’s a safe space where you can show up exactly as you are and begin your journey of healing!
